We had some good noisy rain last night, but when we got up it was muggy, but we didn't see any more rain the rest of the day. Brock and Heidi went for a run down the park road all the way to the dam and back and looped the campground a few times. While he was out, he stopped at the booth to talk about whether there was any sites available. At first the attendants said no, but Brock said, "I was looking online and thought I saw that site 9 was available." And so they took another look and they were very surprised to see that it WAS showing available. There must've been a cancellation, but we're just thankful that God opened it up for us.
The site is a little funny in that it is a shared driveway with another site. Our site is about a 45 degree angle off the other site. Brock did a great job of backing us in while I was skeptical whether we could fit or not. He made it look easy, though the other site was vacant when we parked today. It isn't now, so I'm not sure we can leave until after the other occupant leaves, but it's fine...we are flexible.
As soon as we got set up in the site, Brock had a phone call. When that was done, he called to check with Discount Tire on whether or not they had the right replacement tires and if they could put them on this afternoon. Turns out they did and they could. So, Brock and Brighton hopped into the Yukon, they didn't even get to eat lunch, but grabbed a couple snacks on the way out. It was over an hour's drive to the tire store.
Brock and Bri were gone for pretty much the entire afternoon. Spence and Sky got to play at the park's playground with a little 5-year-old neighbor boy for most of the day. He had a bike and was willing to share with Sky so they traded bike for scooter temporarily. It was nice. There is a bench swing at the edge of the playground that the boys loved to push each other in. It was probably going much higher than it was intended to go. ;o) The little boy really enjoyed it and tried to convince Spence to keep pushing several times after he was done, even trying to get me to "make" Spencer push him.
I did some research checking out possible campgrounds for the next couple of weeks.
Brynna read her book and did some knitting practice.
In the evening, Brock and Bri returned with the new tires on the Yukon and (a little lighter wallet), but we should be good to go for another 50,000 or so miles. We all ate dinner together and Brock took the little boys up to the bathrooms so they could take a shower before bed because they were D-I-R-T-Y after playing outside all day.
I think that means it was a good day.
Oh, and we saw more lightning bugs. :O)
Welcome to our Adventure...
We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
