This morning we got up and took Caleb and Sam to their church. It was good to be in a church building after having had "family church" for about the past 6 weeks. The Moses girls were out of town for the weekend and Rimon and Lisa were on a team to walk in the Susan G Komen Walk this morning so they wouldn't be attending church either. Sky was able to attend children's church where Caleb was helping out and the rest of us enjoyed a message presented via video from their regular pastor, Jeff. On the way home, we stopped and vacuumed out the Yukon and got it washed and put some air in its tires.
After church, the Moses Family (minus the daughters), the McFarlane Family, and the Schoolcraft Family, all met up to have lunch together at the Moses home one last time before the McFarlanes and Schoolcrafts hit the road heading for Weekend on the Farm in Harlan, Iowa next weekend.
We all did kind of the short order thing eating whatever leftovers from the week that we could. It was all still delicious and it was nice to be able to sit and visit while we ate.
After lunch, we had to go ahead and start getting the trailer ready to go. We were finally ready around 2 in the afternoon and the Moses family came out to the driveway to see us off. We all gave hugs and said our thanks and goodbyes.
We had about a two-hour drive to Fox Hill Campground in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Once we arrived and got checked in, we each set up our individual campsites. Keith and Anne had a tent to set up. Anne and I were supposed to head out for grocery shopping, but I proposed that we eat some DiGiorno pizzas that I'd picked up when I'd gone shopping with Lisa last week. Then, Anne and I wouldn't have to go back out tonight and we could do our menu planning and get a good shopping list ready for tomorrow. We were very low on milk for cereal in the morning, so I said I'd make oatmeal and cream of wheat and everyone thought that would work.
Keith and Anne bought some firewood bundles and once they were delivered, Keith set about building a fire. He had a lot of help as it turned out that the wood was either pretty wet or unseasoned and didn't start very easily.
It did eventually take off though and we all enjoyed s'mores for dessert and a good game of "I'm going on a camping trip..."
Welcome to our Adventure...
We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
