After a few nights of not getting good sleep we were pretty excited about sleep time. I drifted off I think before 10PM. It was forecasted to get cold so we setup the electric heater as the primary heat and the furnace as the secondary. Needless to say I had to get up a couple of times to adjust the heat and at just before 5AM the CO/LP detector starting beeping like crazy. We reset it and went to back to bed and when we were just about asleep it went off again! I decided that meant it was time to get up so there goes another night of good rest!
It turns out the furnace was lighting off enough to heat for a bit but then the gas was empty enough to cause it to stop and try to relight. Only thing I can think is some of the propane had not burned off and the detector was telling us about it. I swapped the propane tanks and the alarm stayed off. At least I got a good early start on my to-dos for the day.
I wanted Stacey to be able to sleep in since today is her BIRTHDAY! She was able to go back to sleep until just past 7 when Skylar rushed out and said he wanted to give her his present. I told him the best present for right then was for him to let her sleep a bit. He had a hard time containing his excitement so around 7:30 he and Heidi went in to wake up the birthday girl.
The kids each gave her their presents and even did the dishes for breakfast and lunch. They decided that they would take school off so their teacher could have some time to enjoy her birthday (how thoughtful of them). Mid-afternoon we made a run to Camping World which in this RV park consists of walking to the open gate in the fence and onto the sales lot of Camping World. We picked up a couple of RV type items and then Stacey and the kids went to one of her favorite places - Costco.
They were gone a couple hours but when they returned Stacey had a new shirt and capri pants that she found. She was a little disappointed that this Costco did not have some of the things the one in Bend does but each seems to stock some of the local goods which I think is a good thing.
My present to Stace was supposed to be a nice dinner out. She did alot of research and she could not decide where she wanted to go. We did know we did not want to drive a long ways. We ended up trying to find a hole in the wall place at a gas station called 66 Pit Stop. They were supposed to have good green chile burgers. We drove around for a good 45 minutes because Google lady told us the restaurant was right by our RV park which we knew was obviously not the case. Finally we headed west on the highway and I kept saying that I was sure it was not this way. After about 10 miles of nothing but cows and fields we saw a casino in the distance so we decided we would turn around there. As we approached the turnaround point - there was 66 Pit Stop!
Not much to look at but we ordered the burgers they were great looking but huge. We all enjoyed them but I could not help but feeling this was not the birthday dinner that I wanted to get for my lovely bride. With our bellies full we headed back to the trailer and are really hoping to get good sleep tonight. Not sure what other alarms can go off but I am sure some electronic device will wake up early and let us know.
For those of you that wanted to see the haircuts I was able to sneak some pictures of both Stacey and Brynna. I think they both look great.
Welcome to our Adventure...
We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
