Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

Brock Goes to Bend

Today was the first day of implementing our newly tweaked schedule. After a slightly bumpy start, it was working well when the power went out to the trailer. It was the second or third time that the breaker out at the post had flipped since we've been camping here. Brock decided we needed to pick up a 30 amp to 50 amp converter. We had one when we left Bend, but we could not find it anywhere now that we need it so perhaps we accidentally left it somewhere along the journey.

We drove over to the main cafe where we all ate a free hot dog lunch with chips and bottomless drinks. Then, we walked over to Camping World and picked up the converter. Back at the trailer, we plugged it in right away and the breaker hasn't flipped yet so hopefully that was all it needed. Maybe the 30 amp on our post is just worn out or something.

We did have an exciting experience today. Sky and I were looking at an ant mound that we'd seen was very active yesterday. Spencer had dumped some water on the mound yesterday and much of the dirt had washed away and the ants were scurrying everywhere. Sky and I were surprised to see that the mound was pretty much rebuilt today except it didn't have all the holes that we'd seen them traveling through yesterday. All of a sudden, Sky let out a scream and started hopping all around. I looked down and his little foot was swarming with tiny ants. He was still screaming so I scooped him up and starting swiping them off. He immediately started getting little smaller than pea-size welts all over one foot and one or two on the other foot. One of those little boogers stung me between two of my fingers on the hand that I was using to swipe and it really hurt. I felt so bad for Skylar. It really freaked him out that he had stood in the middle of the busy activity because we hadn't seen it while looking where the activity had been before. I think we will stay away from fire ants in the future, hopefully. Thankfully, we didn't have any kind of allergic reaction so that was good.

We had most of our school done when it was time to take Brock to the airport so we piled in the Yukon and embarked on the 30 minute drive to Tampa International. We were all sad to see him off. But we are looking forward to making the drive back to the airport tomorrow afternoon to pick up my mom! :O) Yay!

From the airport, we plugged into the gps the coordinates for the nearest Costco. We had some "necessities" to pick up for Spencer's 9th birthday tomorrow. Mostly, it turned into a shopping trip where we pick out a lot of the foods we enjoy that Daddy doesn't. We are going to really savor the fruits we purchased.

When we got back to the trailer and got the groceries put away, it was time for Bri, Bryn and I to finish up the school work that we hadn't gotten done before we left for the airport. We did that, had some yummy homemade soup and crusty french bread, watched Ratatouille on our DVD player and then everyone went to bed.
