Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

The City of Elvis

We woke up to sunshine which was a great change given the past few days. After a cup of coffee I headed out with Heidi dog to get some exercise which we both really needed after being cooped up in the trailer for too long. I got to run with Greg last week who does Ironman triathlons and he said for training for longer runs he starts out at a slower pace to ensure he has the energy to go the distance he wants. I gave that a shot this morning and it worked really well. I was able to go 7.29 miles which is a new record for me (and Heidi). Thanks Greg! The dog did well but slept pretty heavy later in the day.

The trailer was already hooked up so after a breakfast of pancakes, sausage and a quick shower we were able to hit the dump station and then hit the road. The destination for today was Graceland RV park in Memphis, TN. Tom the GPS said it was about a 3 hour drive but we hit some pretty heavy road construction traffic that delayed us about 45 minutes. Still not sure why the construction caused the stoppage in traffic but we just went with the flow.

We got to Memphis and followed the instructions to the park but could not find the driveway so we pulled into the Graceland parking lot. They were very nice and told us we missed the turn and how we could turn around. As we were turning around in their parking lot we saw another RV also pull in and turn around so it felt good to not be the only one that missed the turn. We got back on Elvis Presley Blvd and made a left turn into Lonely Street where Heartbreak Hotel is located (at the end of the street) :-)  Turns out the RV campground is actually even more at the end of Lonely Street.

The park is actually pretty nice. After unhooking (no leveling required!) and lunch we headed to the playground for a little energy burn off time. We then walked to Checkers and got some milkshakes. They were not the best but we had been wanting to check out Checkers for a while so now we have and don't need to wonder anymore!

The Graceland area looks pretty touristy but it should be fun to hang out for a few days. We headed to Walmart to stock up on groceries so we should be set after school/work to do some exploring. The day ended a bit frustratingly with some disrespect/backtalk type issues so we are praying tomorrow goes better in that area.
