We had a puttering around the trailer kind of day today. We all slept in past 8 am which didn't use to be impressive, but now is. The kids all did their Bible study and shortly after were quietly entertaining themselves on their electronic devices mostly. Spencer was also working on making a bracelet and playing with his new gyroscope.
Brock and I spent a few hours trip planning and making a few camping reservations for the next couple weeks and also doing some birthday planning for Brighton since he will be turning 15 years old in just over a week. Brock had a good idea for a gift. We'd hoped to find it in a chain store locally so that if it didn't work we could easily return it, but we didn't find any place that stocked it. On the road, it is pretty hard to arrange for delivery of an item that isn't commonly in stock in stores. We eventually got it figured out. We called to get permission from a future campground to receive a package there and then paid a little extra on the shipping to be sure that we would receive it while there. It is still ordered from a chain store so we should be able to walk in and return it if necessary.
When it was close to lunch time, and our stomachs were really rumbling, I got up and made pancakes and bacon for breakfast. ;o)
I'm not really even sure what else we did with the day but it pretty much just slipped by quietly. We did have a pretty windy and rumbly thunderstorm pass through in the late afternoon, but it didn't last too long.
I'm thankful for my husband who takes care of our belongings. Yesterday, before we left for the museum, we had a discussion about whether or not to leave the awning out and I thought we should just leave it since we hadn't had any wind at all and it does keep the trailer a tiny bit cooler by blocking some sun. Brock thought we should bring it in just in case, so we brought it in. Well, evidently that thunderstorm that we missed while inside the Creation Museum struck pretty strongly here at the campground because the pool towels and swim suits that I had left drying on the back of the trailer had blown down harshly and a couple of pairs of swim trunks had blown off their clips and out into the middle of the grass. Some of our shoes that had been left outside by the door had blown around the site too. SO, it must've been pretty windy. So thankful to still have a working awning. I'm now convinced that we should always be cautious and not leave our awning out unattended. Today, we heard the awning beginning to snap a little when the wind was just starting to pick up and so we brought it in again before any damage could occur.
Around 5, Brynna and I headed into town to hit Redbox and fill up the Yukon's gas tank for our drive tomorrow. We came back with two movies. We had a family movie night enjoying one movie all together and then Brock and I watched one after the kids went to bed. It was really a pretty lazy day, which was nice.
Welcome to our Adventure...
We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
