Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

Moving to Ohio with a Sprained Ankle

Nyquil plus Walmart parking lot can return a surprisingly good night's sleep...for me anyways. I think Brock was on high alert all night hearing every sound and wondering if we were about to accosted in some way. But the rain stopped and we awoke to a bright sunny day.

I felt a little self conscious taking out Heidi to relieve herself, but I did it and tried to hold my head high. ;o) We always clean up after her.

We enjoyed a silly Pop Tart breakfast as a treat for something quick and easy and non-messy. We used our teapot on the stove and our French press to enjoy a little fresh coffee for Brock and I and cocoa or tea for the kids. It's a little silly, but the thing we all probably missed the most from our night of "dry camping" was the electricity to keep all our devices alive. Pretty silly.

We made a call to a possible campsite near Brock's next HTG member business that he plans to visit and found they had a vacancy so we went ahead and made a reservation. It is more than we wanted to spend, but we remember last year when we came through here and tried to meet up with Joe, he was out of town and that time we tried to stay at an inexpensive county-type park where there was tons of standing water and grass camp spots. We ended up changing our minds and leaving.

Tom took us back roads to get to our campground this time. We were pretty anxious about the route at first, especially after a baby deer jumped out in front of us on a very narrow curvy stretch. Brock was able to get us nearly stopped and the deer scampered safely off the road, but we started looking for another route. We didn't have cell coverage at that point in time so we went ahead and continued on Tom's route. It turned out to be ok and the total drive for today was only between 2 and 3 hours.

We got to go through some pretty cool historic little "townships" today. It was a very pretty country drive for most of the way.

We arrived at our campground at just the right time to be able to check in. It is very full and was extremely tight getting into our site. There was just not enough room for the Yukon to maneuver in the front.

When we were getting unhooked and set up in the site. Brock rolled the same ankle again. This time he finally agreed to go have it looked at since it really wasn't feeling any better since injuring it on his Nature Trail run last Monday.

We all ate a little snack and researched where the nearest urgent care facility was located and called to see if they were open. It turned out to be about 20 minutes drive, but we decided to go and get it checked out.

Brock went in to the clinic and the kids and I drove across the street to Target. We were trying to keep the germs we have and not pick up too many more. Not sure if there are less germs at Target or a clinic waiting room, but we voted Target.

The doctor's report was good. No broken bones, just a sprain. So Brock feels like it was a wasted trip. I, however, feel glad because we know what the problem is and he did get an air splint and an ace bandage to protect his ankle. Hopefully, it won't roll so easily now and can strengthen back up.

We celebrated "nothing broken" with an early dinner at Steak n' Shake. The burgers were delicious and the shakes were great. AND I didn't have to cook or clean which is a good deal.

We headed back to the campground to have a quiet evening in the trailer. All the kids and I are feeling like we crossed some sort of line and are on the upswing with this cold. Brock has a sore throat so I've got him on Airborne chewables and prayers.
