We finished our trailer departure checklist, paid for our electricity (this was a first for us), and pulled out of Riverside RV Park. The drive to our next stop was only a little over an hour.
We arrived at our reserved campsite and I hopped out to check in, but the office was empty. There was another lady there who told me that "she was at lunch, but she should be back around 1:15". That was 20 minutes and I didn't have a site number yet so we waited. After only about 5 minutes, a gentleman came and greeted us and said his wife was in the office now. I went back in to get signed in. It turns out that the site that "he" reserved for me (whoever was at the other end of the computer reservation system) wasn't actually ready for occupancy. This is a very new park and they are still working on many aspects of it. The site that we ended up getting assigned to was actually an upgrade since it backs up to a creek (it would've been $30 more for the 3 nights), but we got it for the original price.
Once we got settled in, we grilled some brats for lunch. Brock got ready for his company meeting which was very productive. Lots of planning and discussion took place over the course of the FOUR HOUR meeting.
The older kids and I had quite a bit of school to finish up so we were busy with that and the little boys were kind of on their own. This didn't exactly work out the best for everyone since it is hard for them to remember to play quietly. They ended up having to be seperated from each other. When we finished with most of our school work, I let Skylar get on my laptop. He has been playing a learning game called Reading Eggs which we are sampling via a free trial to see if it's something we'd like to buy. He absolutely loves it and it is very educational reading practice for him. He's working at a level which is much lower than he can fluently read in, but I think the practice and the different aspects of the reading process that it touches on are good for him and it is really encouraging for him.
A little after 7 pm, we went to check out the campground's amenities. We are actually at a Jellystone Park for the next few days. We've seen quite a few Jellystone's on our trip, but never actually stayed in one til now. This one has great potential, but it definitely feels like it's in construction mode right now. Still, the kid activities are pretty cool. They have a huge jumping pillow which we checked out tonight for a short time. They do outdoor movies on the weekend. There is a large outdoor pool which looked cool with its colored lights tonight, but I'm not sure the weather will be warm enough for us to try it out during our stay. There's a gaming area with foos ball, ping pong, pool, etc. There are Yogi statues everywhere. The rec room area looks pretty posh with overstuffed leather furniture so I'm thinking that might be a great place to get a little school work done tomorrow. :O)
