The plans went smoothly this morning. Brock got the rock chip sealed so that it won't crack, but it is still kind of ugly. :o( The kids and I got the trailer ready on the inside, but Brock got back before we got to the outside. Once he was there, we got snappily through the rest of the checklist and got hooked up. We were thankful that when it came time to pull out, the little van that was normally parked across the street from us was gone so we were able to pull out without too much trouble. It had been a concern and we'd thought we might have to back out of our site, but all was well.
I'd heard from the campground in Bandera while Brock was out and they had an opening so we made our reservation. The drive was less than an hour from one campground to the other. It was really peaceful except for a few wind gusts making us feel a little squirrelly.
My initial reaction when we pulled into the campground was one of slight disappointment as the sites looked packed in pretty tightly. After we got settled in, it seems like it will be a fine temporary home. We are close to a little river. Brynna and I took Heidi down there on her afternoon walk and it was pretty peaceful. There are some fairly big trees (for this area) down by the water and we saw some really pretty geese that were a variety that I'd never seen.
I called and made a reservation for a half day visit at an area dude ranch for on Saturday. We'll all get a trail ride, lasso lessons, BBQ dinner and marshmallows around the campfire. Brynna is sooo stoked, but I heard Skylar tell Spencer that we ALL get our OWN horses so it seems he is a little excited too.
I knew we should have gone grocery shopping before we came out here to the cowboy capital of the world, but with the car staying busier than me with all its appointments, I didn't have the chance to go. I didn't even get a meal plan together. We got here and we are out of milk and bread and ice cream. We decided to hop into the car and head down main street and see what kind of grocery shopping is available for these necessities. We found they actually have a pretty decent little store and I ran in and grabbed just these things. Tomorrow, I'll get a plan together for this week. There are some places in this little town where we might want to sample some of the local fare so it could be a good week!
Poor Brock is feeling pretty lousy tonight as the cold bug has bit him too. Sure hope he'll get some good sleep. Also hoping that his symptoms will be short lived like mine were as I'm feeling much better today.
Welcome to our Adventure...
We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
