Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

A Day at the KOA

Today was the day we were needing...time to spend relaxing around our campground and getting a few regular things done.

Brock took Heidi for a run and came back injured. He rolled his ankle running on the nature trail here at the campground. It's the same ankle that he rolled in New Mexico and it's just as swollen and bruised as it was last time, but he doesn't think anything is broken. Thankfully it didn't happen during last week when we walked all over D.C. (Seriously, wish we had worn a pedometer so we'd know how many miles we put on.) Hopefully, Brock will heal quickly.

I didn't have to make breakfast because we took advantage of the campgrounds free pancake breakfast.

I worked on catching up our budget and writing yesterday's blog. Brock made some calls about our rental house back home. He also read some on a business book that he'd been wanting to read. Might sound like work for a vacation day, but the material is something that when implemented, helps him feel organized, so it is a good use of part of his day off since it will help relieve stress on future workdays. We got some laundry done. We returned our movie to the nearest Redbox. We also talked to one of the young men we met at the chapel yesterday and he's going to be our dog walker for tomorrow when we go on our New York City tour.

The kids took part in several of the park's planned activities today. Brighton played a game of kickball and took part in the game pictured below which was a trust exercise. The player wears a bucket on his head and is directed by voice commands from someone else to get through some obstacles.

Brighton, Brynna and Spencer all got to go on a Fire Truck Ride around the campground where I guess the goal was to see how many waves they could get. Apparently the park is pretty empty though so they didn't accumulate too big a number of waves from fellow campers. Skylar didn't like the siren on the truck and so decided he didn't want to take a ride and he went with Brock to take Heidi to the dog park instead. Looks like the park's maintenance guys already fixed the area where she got out before. That's pretty impressive responsiveness. She almost found another spot to escape, but was obedient when sharply commanded "No!".
This picture was taken by accident, but I somehow like it.

I gave Brock and Skylar haircuts.

We watched a little TV and turned in fairly early. Tomorrow morning we board our tour bus which leaves for The City at 7:30 am sharp. We're going to see the Statue of Liberty! Woohoo!
