Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

Moving West

(Stacey writing.)

Darn. I caught the cold too and I think the boys are going to follow. But on the plus side, Bryn is starting to feel better and it's just been 3 days.

We got up early again today so that we could get on the road. We had planned on staying near Hershey, Pennsylvania for a couple of nights, but decided to call and see if Hershey's Chocolate World had RV parking. Turned out they did and under 3 hours it was free, so we just stopped there for a quick tour and then drove on to Gettysburg. Our route had us backtracking most of the way today so not much of an exciting drive.

At Chocolate World, Brock did a valiant job parallel parking our rig between a couple of school buses. We decided to just do the attractions that were free. As it turned out, we could ride the factory tour ride which was pretty neat. On the way in there was a type of timeline on the wall with information about how Milton Hershey developed into a master candymaker. The ride was well done, kind of Disney-esque with music and color and lights and narration detailing each step of the chocolate-making process. At the end, we were given a free Hershey's Chocolate Bar mini. Then, we "toured" the gift shop which was HUGE. It was supermarket-sized and just full of different Hershey manufactured candy and other merchandise. We cruised through there and enjoyed seeing all the unique and rare flavors of well-known favorites. We were tempted, but we didn't buy any. A few of the kids picked out a smashed penny for a souvenir.

Milton Hershey established this home and school for orphans in the 1920's.

Looking down on the gift shop where there's a huge atrium in the center and the world's largest Hershey bar for $40!
Today marks the part of our journey where we start heading back west. We all feel happy about that, but for tomorrow, we visit some battlefields.
