Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.

Amarillo for One More Night

After a whole night of little sleep, tossing and turning with the wind howling and whipping and rocking the trailer, we got up this morning to still near freezing temperatures and regular wind gusts of more than 40 mph. We dreaded the times we had to take Heidi out as we almost felt like the wind would blow us over and its little needles stung our faces. We quickly decided to call and see if our current camp spot was available for tonight so that we wouldn't have to make a risky and stressful and long drive today. It meant we would have to forfeit one paid night at the state park near Dallas, but we decided it was worth it.

We didn't see any rain, sleet or snow today. The day stayed pretty much gray and windy right up until late afternoon when the sun started peaking through the clouds.

We stayed inside and cranked up our heater and worked on our regular work and school and used the park's laundry facilities since I don't know if the next place has any.

Tonight the skies are nearly completely blue and the wind has calmed way down. It is still cool out and they are forecasting a freeze for tonight, but we are definitely hopeful for a more peaceful night so that we can get some rest and make our big six-hour+ drive tomorrow.
