Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

Joe Pool Lake Swimming

The kids and I had a leisurely day. Temperatures were in the high 80's outside. We got our school and chores done by late afternoon and decided to see if we could find our way down to a day use area of Joe Pool Lake where there is a designated swimming area. Brock took the Yukon in to Dallas to attend his meetings, so whatever we do the next couple of days needs to be right around our camp spot.

Turns out there is a little deer trail right down at the back of an empty campsite so it took us literally less than 5 minutes to walk there. We took Heidi too so she could get some swim time in.

The boys had decided to go full bore and wear their swimsuits and goggles while Brynna just planned to wade. When we got down to the swimming area it was posted "No dogs in the swimming area". I had expected this and planned to let the boys go in first for awhile and then find a dog friendly area away from the picnic area. This was not popular with Heidi. She kept hopping around at the end of her leash and yipping.

When Heidi could stand it no longer, and Brighton was ready to come out of the water, I had him sit on the shore to dry and watch Spence and Sky splashing around in the water which was only about up to their waists. Bryn and I walked over to the other side of the little spit of land and Heidi plunged right in, but it wasn't quite deep enough there that she could actually swim and remain on her retractable leash. Unfortunately, she still isn't really trustworthy off-leash and there were lots of ducks around! We walked a little further and found a great place where she could leap off the shore into water deep enough to swim in and I could walk along the shore so she could keep going. She loved it! Brynna took over supervising Heidi's swimming while I went back to check on the boys. They were still doing great so I headed back to "the girls" ;o).
More Texas wildflowers.
We got to see a cool bi-plane doing loops above the park. Later I saw it up close as it flew over our campspot and could see that it said US Army on the bottom.

Bryn and Heidi saw me coming and ran to meet me.

Our sweet girl
Bryn, Heidi and I went over and gave the little boys a 5 minute warning so we could head back up to the trailer to get some dinner going. We hiked back up and the the boys changed out of their wet stuff. Spence and Sky begged to go to the playground for a little while and I hadn't gone with them yet so I agreed to a 15-minute trip. Brock gave us a check-in phone call while we were at the playground which was great since he wouldn't be back until very late.
Bubble gum, bubble gum in a dish...Spencer was It.

Here comes the Lava Monster.
