Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

A Great Day

Today in Albuquerque was a beautiful day. Blue skies, warm temperatures and no wind.

I chose a church to attend that had three services. I had intended to go to the 10:15 service, but Spencer and I got into a duct tape craft project that he wanted to do. He'd tried it on his own and had reached a dangerous frustration level so I agreed to help. By the time we finished up, we had to rush out the door to make it to the 11:45 service at the church.

Sagebrush Community Church is a HUGE church. The kind that has several police officers directing traffic on the main road and at least 6 people in vests directing me into a parking space. Once inside the building, there were people everywhere and a really organized check-in process for the kids program. Spencer decided to go and Sky decided to sit with Bryn and I in the main service. Tobymac was blasting in the 3rd to 5th grade room when Spencer stepped through the doors and I said goodbye to him and he never looked back.

The three of us hurried back downstairs to get to the main service area and there was again probably six people that directed us to the exact seats we would occupy for the service. We got in just as a song was finishing and then everyone sat down and the pastor came out and introduced their guest speaker for today. It was Charles Lowery. He was the same comedic speaker that we'd heard teach on family relationships when we visited the Baptist church in Albany, Georgia. He was laugh out loud funny with all these hilarious one liners and yet he still managed to challenge the congregation as well. He spoke about having the right focus in our lives - Faith, Family and Friends - appreciating what we have and speaking positively. That's what I got out of it at least.

When service let out, we went to pick up Spencer and he had received some Welcome gifts as a first time guest including the opportunity to shop at the church kids' store and he chose to buy some silly putty. Skylar was more than slightly envious and was really regretting his choice to not attend the kids' program. Later this afternoon, he was very upset that he didn't get any silly putty. I was able to pacify him with the idea that we'd check at the next Dollar Tree we were near to see if we couldn't pick him up some putty, but NO, I wouldn't be making a special trip to go pick it up right now.

After church we ate some fast food and then headed back to trailer where we had a very relaxing and quiet afternoon. The boys shared Spencer's putty and sculpted together for probably a couple of hours. They kept coming into the bedroom where I was and sharing their creations.

I listened to music and read a book for awhile. (!!) Brynna read and played some kind of rpg game on her tablet that has interested her lately where you are a warrior cat. We had a delicious evening meal that looked like a rainbow on a plate, but which our "Daddy" would not appreciate.

The highlight of the day came in the evening. First, I got to talk to Elaine (Grams) and hear about her visit with Brock and Brighton. Then we had a big Skype session with my mom and dad, my sister and brother-in-law, the cousins, and Brock and Brighton. It was a little overwhelming trying to hear each other and the moving camera can be a little disorienting, but it was great to see everyone's faces and here in Albuquerque, the laughter was shaking our trailer.

Also, this evening, I got to see some pictures and hear how the guys' trip is going so far when Brock and I were able to video chat a little later...
Grams was really surprised and happy to see them at the Walk-a-thon yesterday.
Gramps was surprised too!

They even got to squeeze in a quick lunch with Brett and Paul in
Newport before heading back over the mountain to Bend.
Everyone kept commenting on how much Brighton has grown. Here he is almost as tall as Uncle George.
