Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

On to Albuquerque

Today we spent the morning working on school and work and doing our little bit of laundry in the awesome laundry room at White Sands knowing that the next place would most likely not have as nice a laundry room. The plan had been to pull out around 10:30, but Brock had several meetings this morning and I thought about the laundry and asked if we could leave around 11:30. Brock said that would be fine, but we didn't end up leaving until after noon.

We had about a four hour drive to get to our new park in Albuquerque. We drove about an hour and a half before we stopped at a picnic pullout at Valley of Fire Recreation Site. We ate some snacks for lunch in order to save time and looked over the lava flow briefly. There was a chilly wind blowing and what looked like a rain shower coming so we didn't stay there long. The flow was pretty neat though and it reminded us of central Oregon a little.

After our pit stop, we drove on and it wasn't the most exciting or beautiful drive. Thankfully the road was in good condition and it wasn't too windy. There was a little rain shower we went through that had little ice particles mixed in, but no snow.

A New Mexico rest area through my rain spattered car window...reminded me of an old timey jail in the Wild West
I liked this water tower just south of Albuquerque
We arrived at our new RV park and got all hooked up. I think our site is the most sloped we've ever seen with a difference in left to right of more than 6 inches. We were able to use the leveling blocks, put out the slides and THEN put the stabilizing jacks down to get it nearly level thankfully. The front door is sticking a little so we must be tweaked just a bit. There is no real place to walk Heidi here. It's pretty much all dirt and/or gravel, but she has definitely grown to be able to be more flexible on this trip as she was able to relieve herself with no trouble. ;o) She didn't use to be able to do that.

It feels pretty chilly tonight so we are thankful to have our furnace and nice blankets as we snuggle in for the night.
