Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

Gettin along to Galveston

Sure was nice to get a little bit of sleeping late (think 7:30 instead of 6:30). Brynna definitely has a cold so she was up throughout the night at different times so I am sure she is a bit worn out today. The weather was blue skies but it actually got down to the mid 30s last night and they are calling for temps into the 20s tonight. Good thing we are moving on to Texas today!

Our destination today is Galveston as we already have a site reserved at an RV park right on the ocean. We had our standard pancake and bacon Saturday morning special thanks to Stacey and then we all got to relax a bit before getting ready to go. The wind was pretty strong so it was a bit chilly getting the trailer and Yukon ready.

We stopped at the park office on the way out to see if we could leave the address to forward the package they could not find on Friday. The post office said it had been delivered so it was now in the mail room of the Casino which did not open until Monday.

When Stacey gave them the address and let them know the situation a nice man said he would go to see if he could find the package. They had to wait for security to come to let him in and lo and behold they found the package and brought it over to the RV park. We were very appreciative as it has alot of our tax information as well as the contents of the wallet that Brighton lost in Pensacola.

With that we were on our way. The plans were to stop for Heidi's food in Lake Charles but once we were on the highway we heard the highway leading to that Walmart was closed and backed up for at least an hour. Guess Heidi might have to go hungry!

A few more miles down the road and we hit Texas and had to stop at the first rest stop for the tourist information and facilities. Signs there warned us to beware of snakes so I guess another wildlife change we will experience.

We made it to the Lone Star state!

Snakes?

After a few more hours on the road we made it to the RV park. We were blessed to get a site right on the edge with no one next to us on the window side of the trailer. The wind was crazy strong so we went chasing after a few items as they tried to escape our trailer during setup.

After we were setup, I was really hungry from not really eating lunch so after a quick look-up of reviews we headed to a Mexican restaurant called Salsas. Dinner was good although Brighton ordered the "Messy Nachos" and found that his eyes were bigger than his stomach! Skylar surprised us and got the cheeseburger instead of the grilled cheese as of course he could not get any Mexican food.

On the way back to the trailer we stopped at yet another Wal-mart and got Heidi her food among other things. We also picked up a movie so tonight will be movie night for Stacey and I, although it is Batman so it is really more like movie night for me!

  1. We are in Galveston, too. How long are you here for? If you will be staying a while, head to Houston for the Children's Museum...WORTH IT! Many of the museums in Houston have free Thursday times and the Zoo is free every first Tuesday from 2-6. We went last month and may head there again this Tues. Wonderful area here. We have been here a month and are staying for another. Here's our blog with some stuff we've done so far.... www.rvingnorthamerica.com. Have fun!
