Welcome to our Adventure...

We packed up the kids, dog and the trailer and headed out for adventure, learning and helping others. During our adventure we will try to update this site as often as possible to keep everyone interested involved in our travels and to keep a journal for ourselves. The plan is to be working, schooling, helping and sharing on the road for a year.
Please feel free to post comments and questions! Thanks for following!

Slow-Moving City Slickers

Guess we are a little ways from being REAL cowboys and cowgirls as evidenced by our bow-legged, slow moving stances and our bruised backsides. LOL   It was a LOT of fun, but I don't want to sit on another horse for awhile. The kids would do it again right now in a heartbeat, but not me.

We got up this morning and readied ourselves to go to a church that ended up being about 2 minutes drive away from our campground. White Rock Christian Fellowship in Bandera is a very friendly, small church that made us feel welcome from the minute we walked in. The pastor, Bob, warmly greeted us and a local family led the congregation in worship with just a guitar and their harmonizing voices. The sermon was a good teaching time from the book of John and afterwards we were invited to stay for lunch with the congregation which they do every Sunday after church. We wouldn't normally feel comfortable dropping in with our big-eating crew without being prepared to contribute, but this time, the pastor really insisted that they always have plenty of food and we enjoyed getting to visit with him a little more. It turns out that he runs a wifi provider business for the area and was interested in talking a little to Brock about what he does and hearing more about our trip after the service. There were so many kids running around inside the little building, many of them related to the pastor's family in some way ;o), we felt pretty comfortable there.

Once we got home, we changed our clothes and went to walk around and explore Main St. Bandera. Lots of the little shops were closed on Sunday, but we did go in one little general store. They carried some gourmet food items and lots of little touristy things and home decor. Brynna enjoyed looking at the gently used cowboy boots and expensive, but made in China cowboy hats. We ended up walking out empty-handed. We were pretty much done window shopping after that and headed in the direction of the trailer.

We did see some horses walking down the street and when we went around the corner, we saw them tied up outside the cowboy bar.

We hit DQ on the way home for some ice cream treats and after enjoying them at the store, we drove about a block back to the campground. We then attempted to get rest some back at the trailer. Well, Brock and I tried, but it didn't really work out.

The rest of the evening was spent watching some silly television, working on yesterday's blog, and trying to research our next stop: Big Bend National Park or No? It looks really cool, but its really far south and in the middle of nowhere and it turns out that the timing isn't very good for Brock work-wise to be somewhere where there is no Verizon coverage and probably iffy wifi coverage. We'll see. Decision to be made soon.
